New York State Education Commissioner Commends Tender Steps of New York for 10 Years of Service to Children and Families

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 2024 – New City, NY

Tender Steps of New York, Inc. (TSNY) is honored to receive official recognition from Dr. Betty A. Rosa, Commissioner of Education and President of the University of the State of New York, in celebration of the organization’s 10th Annual Visionary Luncheon.

In a formal letter, Commissioner Rosa commended Tender Steps of New York for its ten years of service supporting children and families in Rockland County, emphasizing the organization’s role in helping young people overcome challenges and achieve academic and personal success.

“As Tender Steps of New York, Inc. celebrates its tenth annual Visionary Luncheon, I am pleased to recognize the vital work that you do to assist children and their families in Rockland County,” wrote Commissioner Rosa. “As a result of your group’s dedication to helping kids and their families, they are better able to triumph over the numerous obstacles they confront.”

The Commissioner’s letter highlighted the organization’s evidence-based workshops and community-centered programs designed to equip children and parents with real-life coping and communication skills. Programs such as Bullying Management, Conflict Resolution, Educational Advocacy, Trauma Support, and Life Skills for Independent Living have served as the foundation for TSNY’s mission to create stronger families and safer communities.

“Constructing tangible initiatives to impact the well-being of children and their families during times of crisis is a challenging yet gratifying endeavor,” Commissioner Rosa continued. “The objective of Tender Steps of New York is being met. I commend your diligent efforts.”

For over a decade, Tender Steps of New York has partnered with schools, social service agencies, and the juvenile justice system to deliver trauma-informed, family-strengthening programs that build resilience, promote mental wellness, and foster academic success. The organization’s collaborative model emphasizes prevention, intervention, and empowerment — ensuring that every child and family served receives the tools and guidance needed to thrive.

“We are deeply grateful for this recognition from Commissioner Rosa and the New York State Education Department,” said Evelyn Bautista Miller, LMSW, SDA, Founder and Executive Director of Tender Steps of New York. “This acknowledgment affirms the work our team does every day to uplift children and families facing difficult circumstances. Our mission has always been to bring healing, hope, and opportunity to the Rockland County community and beyond.”
